synopsis of THE SEERS OF DARK

KENDAL MCINTYRE, a 44-year-old widow, has fought long and hard to overcome the emotional scars that a desperately unhappy childhood has left her with, to create the successful boutique business that she now has. She is determined to ensure her daughter APRIL will have all the advantages in life that she herself was denied. However, Kendal is dismayed to learn that someone is probing her background and she is terrified that her shameful secret – the illegitimate child she had as a teenager - will come out and wreck April’s impending society marriage to PHILIP FOTHERGILL.
The women in Kendal’s family share a hereditary trait. They have different coloured eyes and special gifts to ‘see’ things but Kendal denies that she has any special talents, apart from a remarkable photographic memory and April's gift has not yet developed. AUNT MAUD is the only one who acknowledges the gift and she urges Kendal to tell April but Kendal stubbornly refuses. Conflict is rife as Kendal struggles to deal with her contrary daughter’s wedding plans, her undependable business manager VINCE and her growing fear that someone is stalking her.
Unbeknown to Kendal an evil killer who keeps snakes and indulges in Satanism is threatening her family. He practises taxidermy and when he kills, he removes and stuffs body parts to add to his bizarre collection. He believes that if he can possess the ‘witcheye’ gene he can become immortal.
Kendal meets GREGORY MINSKY, a badly scarred man of Russian ancestry with whom she shares an interest in samovars. After a couple of false starts, it becomes clear the attraction is mutual. Kendal is thrilled but their relationship seems doomed when Kendal finds out he is working for her illegitimate child CARRON.
Philip is finally revealed as the murderer and he pits his evil wits against the three women who finally link up to use their witcheye power against him. In the melee, Philip staggers against a bench where the large fleshing machine is loose and switched on. It lands on his exposed neck, the weight forcing the blade through the muscle and bone to kill him.
April's eye colour had attracted Philip, as it was a trait that some of the women in his own family possessed. Despite killing all the female members of his own family, Philip had not known there was another branch and that he and April were in fact distantly related. He had planned to harness April's latent gift for himself and his offspring but instead, in a bizarre satanic ritual, he intended to sacrifice her.
Kendal finally finds happiness with Gregory and accepts Carron into her family. She ‘sees’ into the future and knows that April will have twins – with the same genetic eye colouring...
